Directs and coordinates all medical records activities.
In cooperation with IT, plans and develops medical record retention, preservation and retrieval systems in accordance with company standards and goals.
Establishes goals, procedures, and guidelines best suited to company's needs, and implements appropriate systems and workflows with all clinical and medical records personnel.
Performs ongoing analysis of clinical and administrative activities, and implements systems and procedures for improving efficiency.
Develops standards to assure consistency, patient safety, confidentiality, and availability of medical records.
Supervises medical records personnel engaged in the collection, scanning, analysis, coding, maintenance and retrieval of medical records. Supervises/coordinates dictation/transcription personnel and outsourced services.
Collaborates with IT in the design and revision of components for the medical information systems.
Performs training of Physicians and staff regarding all medical records programs and processes, including development of documentation and training materials.
Acts as first-level support for users of medical records systems; works with vendors when necessary to coordinate service.
Oversees and updates the company on all legal, medical, local and financial regulations and ensures compliance.
SALARY: $55-70K
Job Requirements:
BS in Health Information Management, RHIA, RHIT or similar certification. Five years experience to include two years in a supervisory/administrative capacity in a Physician Practice or Hospital setting.
