LBMC Announces HITECH Task Force
February 2010, Tennessee – LBMC, the largest accounting and professional services organization based in Tennessee, has worked extensively for nearly a year to understand and address the requirements of the HITECH ACT of 2009 through the efforts of the LBMC HITECH Task Force. The LBMC HITECH Task Force was formed to assist hospitals and physician practices in the successful planning and implementation of the HITECH initiatives and ongoing compliance with the "meaningful use" provisions outlined by the Health and Human Services (HHS) regulations as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
LBMC has a large team of healthcare professionals who work with healthcare organizations on a variety of issues. The LBMC HITECH Task Force has been assembled from this highly experienced team and will be assisting both hospitals and physician practices in successfully meeting the HITECH requirements. “The first challenge is navigating through the complexities of the current regulations and the ongoing changes," said Mike Cain, LBMC founder and co-managing partner. "The next phase will be helping healthcare organizations through the implementation process. That will require gaining an in-depth understanding of the meaningful use provisions, making necessary workflow modifications, budgeting appropriately, securing relevant technology, and performing ongoing compliance monitoring. LBMC has assembled a team with the requisite planning, clinical, technical, financial, and compliance strengths that are necessary to address HITECH."
"It is critical that eligible healthcare organizations understand the detailed requirements for the HITECH funding" said Donna Gilley, LBMC Healthcare Compliance Director. "Poor planning can lead to one or two meaningful use projects consuming excessive portions of the funding and ultimately resulting in a budget shortfall. Organizations will need a partner that understands and can assist in complying with the provisions of the Act while helping to bring projects to completion on time and within budget" In addition to a number of planned webcasts and presentations that will be offered at no cost to interested parties, LBMC is also providing a low-cost HITECH Roadmap program for organizations and individuals that want to start the planning and budgeting process.
