Matthew Kisber
In his role at LBMC, Matthew works with expanding and relocating companies across Tennessee to develop economic strategies and initiatives that will help them capitalize on opportunities for economic and industry growth.
Governor Phil Bredesen appointed Kisber in 2003 as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD). In his previous role Kisber was charged with developing infrastructure and resources for Tennessee communities and enhancing the State’s business friendly atmosphere, while attracting new industries and assisting existing industries expand. Under Kisber’s leadership, 52 corporate headquarters have located to Tennessee, including Nissan North America, International Paper, Louisiana Pacific, Clarcor, Service Master, Asurion, and others - including four $1 billion dollar investments that include: Volkswagen North America (Chattanooga), Hemlock Semiconductor (Clarksville), Nissan North America’s Electric Vehicle project (Nissan) and Wacker Chemie AG (Cleveland). Kisber’s dedication to his role as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Revenue Economic and Community Development resulted in near 200,000 new jobs and over $33 billion in new investments for the State.
Prior to this State of Tennessee appointment, Kisber served ten consecutive terms in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
