A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday for the city's newest commercial and office development.
Hill Center Brentwood will be located at the corner of Franklin Road and Maryland Way, on property that once housed the Tennessee Baptist Convention. The development will be built in two phases, the first of which is slated to be open by October 2016.
The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. at 219 Franklin Road.
Developed by H.G. Hill Realty, the project's layout will be similar to that of Hill Center Green Hills. So far, accounting and business consulting firm LBMC is the only company to sign as a tenant. LBMC will take up about half of the 130,000 square feet in the first office building.
Project spokeswoman Amy Kovar said no additional tenants have been named and none are expected to be announced Tuesday.
Phase two could be completed more than five years later, according to Tennessean archives. When the latest plans for the property were presented in May 2014, H.G. Hill Realty CEO Jimmy Granbery indicated the company had invested more than $20 million in the property.
Once fully built, the development is expected to generate more than $2 million annually in sales and property taxes.
The portion of Hill Center Brentwood currently located along Franklin Road houses Chipotle, Puffy Muffin, Fresh Market, and outdoor and sporting goods store REI.
