With a tagline that states, “we hire you to retire you” there’s no doubt that Quickway intends to take care of their employees. Quickway is a contract carrier specializing in the food and retail businesses. For more than 40 years, Quickway has enabled drivers to be home every day with paid holidays off, and many other luxuries that are not common in the trucking industry.

The Opportunity

With more than 16 locations across the country, the management team knew they needed a focused HR firm to ensure their team members were always first. “I will admit my initial thought was, ‘Could we really outsource such a major task to a local firm and have them successfully take care of more than 1300 employees across the country?’” said Chris Tate, CFO.

The Solution

Quickway became an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) in 2004, and to date has paid nearly $6 mil in benefits to retirees. Quickway also includes a death and disability benefit to employees and covers 100% of health benefits costs.

For employees of more than one year, the voluntary turnover rate is just under 10%. That’s less than half of the industry average, and Prevost attributes this to an employee-focused environment and culture, one that has been created and maintained by his staff and the LBMC EP team.
