Title: HR Manager
Been with LBMC EP: Since January 2018
Born into a military family, Maria Broussard had the opportunity to experience life in places like South Korea and Germany before moving home to the United States. Her journey led her through a few different careers before ultimately landing in the Human Resources world. Maria’s professional life took its early roots in restaurant management, where she thrived until starting a family. A few years later, Maria took on a receptionist role with a Tennessee government agency, which eventually opened the door to her career in HR. In 2004, Maria stepped into an HR assistant role, and she’s been blessed with multiple opportunities to progress in HR field ever since. After 11 years with the State of Tennessee, Maria expanded her skills as an HR business partner for Comdata. A few years later, Maria learned from a recruiter about an opportunity at LBMC Employment Partners, where she applied and was offered the position in which she now serves.
As an HR manager, Maria works with clients of all industries and specifically handles HR-related needs for eight clients. “What’s great about my position is that I have the honor of being the subject matter expert for all HR transactions for my clients,” says Maria. From benefits orientation, payroll issues, employee handbooks, new employee orientation, and workplace disagreements (just to name a few), Maria enjoys the challenge of helping her clients stay compliant and organized when it comes to all things HR. As a partner and liaison between executive management and employees, Maria is driven by the opportunity to help navigate change with policies or procedures and decisions that affect organizations. “I truly enjoy working with people, and I was excited that the relational aspect of my work didn’t change when I took on my role at LBMC EP,” Maria affirms.
Why LBMC EP Stands Out:
While there are many positive things Maria enjoys about LBMC EP’s culture and values, she is especially grateful for the strong sense of family she experiences from her leadership and colleagues. “As a ‘people person’ who loves being a part of a team, something that spoke volumes to me in my interview process was the immediate ways in which the team here at LBMC EP embraced me. Everybody is always willing to answer questions and pitch in to help each other. That’s admirable for a company to provide such an atmosphere,” says Maria. Another key differentiator at LBMC EP for Maria is being able to work cross-functionally to ensure her clients’ expectations and happiness. Maria also gives high regard to the leadership and management at LBMC EP. “Autonomy is very evident in our work environment, and it means a lot to know that I’m trusted to do my job. To have a manager who knows exactly what you’re doing and how to effectively manage is key in today’s workforce,” Maria says. LBMC EP’s relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on a positive work-life balance is also something Maria greatly values.
Beyond the office, Maria is a devoted wife and mother and dedicates much of her personal time to her family. In October of 2018, Maria will celebrate 19 years of marriage to her husband, Tracy. Maria and Tracy are proud parents to Camryn (17) and Carter (12), and they reside in La Vergne, Tennessee. For the past seven years, Maria has volunteered her talents as a treasurer for Smyrna Junior Basketball League. She is also very committed and involved within her church family, serving as a volunteer on the stewardship and finance committee.
