Name: Rachael O’Brien
Title: HR Assistant
Been with LBMC EP: Since May 2016

Hailing from Hendersonville, Tennessee, Rachael O’Brien attended Volunteer State Community College before applying to three other colleges to finish her business education journey. After being accepted into Belmont University’s Massey College of Business, Rachael completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. As a commuter to Belmont’s campus, Rachael fell in love with all things Nashville, so she moved from the suburbs to the city in August of 2016. As a business student, Rachael discovered an opportunity to intern with LBMC Employment Partners’ business development team beginning in May of 2016. In this role, Rachael handled back-end administration work, which continued into the fall semester twice a week. Rachael also served as a student worker in Belmont’s Human Resources office, which piqued a greater interest within her for HR-related work. Fast forward to several months later, and an HR Assistant position opened at LBMC EP. Rachael applied and secured a full-time role with the company she had already grown to know and love.

Current Role:

As an HR assistant for LBMC EP, Rachael serves on the larger HR team, and her responsibilities include administrative tasks, such as employee background checks, drug screens, new hire enrollments, termination processing, and even filling in for HR managers when they need to be away from the office. “Recently, I took on managing HR needs for around 20 clients of my own. They are all smaller companies, and the opportunity has been so educational and rewarding,” says Rachael. Among the many things Rachael enjoys about her role is the trust and ongoing support from LBMC EP’s leadership. “My leaders trust me to do my job. There’s no micro-management, but rather encouraging support. I’m an independent worker, so that style of management speaks volumes to me,” Rachael explains. Rachael also appreciates the HR team’s close-knit dynamic. “If I can’t solve a problem, my team has my back, and we point each other toward success,” Rachael affirms.

Why LBMC EP Stands Out:

“LBMC EP really feels like home, and that’s important to me, because people spend much of their week at work,” says Rachael. With service team meetings and company-wide gatherings, Rachael values the many ways in which LBMC EP intentionally provides opportunities for employees to get to know each other and learn about the multiple facets of the company’s work and mission. “Through much growth, things always keep running smoothly and without hiccup at LBMC EP. Leadership is always available, involved, and never too busy for you. You never feel like you’re a bother to anyone here, and you can really be yourself,” says Rachael. With LBMC EP being Rachael’s first career home after college, she is grateful to serve in such a flexible and positive corporate environment.

Beyond the office, Rachael is a true lover of music and concerts, which makes Music City the perfect place for her to call home. “I’m an old soul when it comes to music, and I really love The Eagles,” admits Rachael. During the summer season, Rachael spends a lot of time at her family’s lake house in Hendersonville. She has a cat appropriately named Kitty, and most of Rachael’s close friends still reside in Hendersonville, so she loves every opportunity to visit with them and their little ones. A self-proclaimed homebody, Rachael loves doing yoga, and she gets easily excited about a good rainy Saturday that includes bingeing on a Netflix series (her current Netflix obsession is “The Walking Dead”).
