Providing Secure Healthcare Information Technology Solutions
Headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina with offices in Dallas, Texas, and Baltimore, Maryland, Companion Data Services, LLC (CDS) offers secure systems development and managed hosting services specializing in the healthcare industry. CDS prides itself on its mission of creating value through innovative solutions, serving as a trusted business partner to customers and strategic alliances, facilitating a career development inspired work environment, and creating a highly-efficient organization. Through CDS’s agile and scalable solutions, its clients can control IT without having to own IT. Above all, CDS transforms technology support from a business inhibitor to a strategic enabler as the organization lowers its clients’ risks and costs through proven processes, operating efficiencies, and a fast path to transformation.
CDS was established in July of 2005 and began as a data center operations contractor devoted to hosting Medicare business operations and is now one of only two data center contractors nationwide for the Medicare FFS program. CDS currently employs around 250 employees. “We don’t pretend to be more than we are. We sell and provide our customers solid, stable solutions that meet their requirements with consistency. Our people are visionaries and our technology tested and proven,” says Lola Jordan, President of CDS.
As CDS primarily serves verticals that include Federal, State, and commercial clients, it is proud to support a portfolio of Federal system service products. With this portfolio, CDS maintains an ongoing need for quality partners to independently validate its system security compliance in accordance with FISMA requirements. LBMC Information Security was recommended to CDS from several of its partners as a quality organization that can effectively handle third-party FISMA assessment needs. “CDS has enjoyed a strong working relationship with LBMC Information Security for more than 8 years. During that tenure, LBMC Information Security’s team has been a consistent, effective, and efficient part of our Federal service delivery,” says David Harper, CDS’s Chief Security Officer. CDS is now also working with LBMC Information Security to develop similar partnering in the State government space.
What makes the relationship with LBMC Information Security so good? Harper affirms that it is the efficiency and true partner relationship. “LBMC Information Security’s staff is a cut above the competition in the ways they pragmatically and effectively assess our Federal system security portfolio from a position of experience and knowledge. They take a very practical and partnership approach that lends itself to cost-effective and comprehensive assessment outcomes,” says Harper. CDS welcomes the opportunity to improve its system security program through the audit process, and LBMC Information Security brings value to that practice beyond the actual assessment. Harper adds, “Any audit organization can provide audit findings, but LBMC Information Security provides insight, pragmatic risk consideration, domain knowledge, organizational flexibility, and comprehensive support. CDS is forthcoming with all elements of our program when we engage with LBMC because they make us a better organization.”
CDS appreciates how LBMC Information Security assesses its environment with a comprehensive and critical eye, while also offering a practical viewpoint that brings real value. For other organizations who are considering LBMC Information Security’s services, Harper encourages, “With LBMC Information Security, you will be focused on the substantive and practical issues that pose a real risk to your environment rather than esoteric or uninformed assessment opinions.”
