Founded in 1984 as a traditional accounting firm by David Morgan, Mike Cain, Jim Lattimore, and Charles Black, LBMC has grown into an award-winning national business advisory and accounting firm. With over 900 professionals, including 500 residing in or based in Williamson County, LBMC’s impact in the area is substantial as one of the largest employers in the county.
“At LBMC, we’re not just in the business of numbers; we’re in the business of building communities,” says Jim Meade, LBMC’s CEO and Managing Shareholder. “Our commitment to Williamson County reflects the values our founders instilled—a culture of caring, giving, and leading by example.”
Community Leadership at the Core
For LBMC, community involvement isn’t just a program; it’s part of the company’s DNA. The firm’s leaders have held key positions on boards like the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, YMCA, American Red Cross and collaborated closely with Williamson Inc., the county’s Chamber of Commerce. This engagement enables the firm to contribute meaningfully to discussions that shape the county’s economic and social well-being.
“David Morgan and Mike Cain were pioneers in community engagement long before it was a business norm,” reflects Meade. “Their example set a standard for today’s leadership, fostering a culture of hands-on involvement that defines who we are as a firm.”
LBMC Cares Foundation: A Philanthropic Hub
In 2022, LBMC launched the LBMC Cares Foundation, a dedicated initiative focused on youth services, behavioral health, and domestic violence prevention. This employee-led foundation allows LBMC to be a reliable partner for nonprofits across Williamson County, including United Way and Brentwood Rotary Club. Through LBMC Cares, employees contribute monetarily and through volunteer service, dedicating hundreds of hours annually to initiatives like Lending Hands and seasonal projects.
This hands-on involvement has a ripple effect that enhances the quality of life working with Williamson County organizations like the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, Williamson County Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, GraceWorks Ministries, Bridges Domestic Violence Center, Davis House, Deer Run Retreat, Franklin Cares, and A Vintage Affair to name a few. We even start early on the team member’s volunteer journey with interns building wheelchairs for Williamson County Veterans.
“At LBMC, giving back is a core value, and we believe in the transformative power of community-focused philanthropy,” says Brian Tate, Board Chair, LBMC Cares Foundation. “Our team’s dedication to volunteering and support has impacted countless lives, creating stronger, more resilient communities.”
Investing in Talent and Community Impact
LBMC places high value on its team’s growth, offering customized learning programs that foster personal and professional development. These initiatives are designed to cultivate expertise and encourage employees to impact the community actively. LBMC’s programs are instrumental in training young professionals for roles on local boards, shaping future leaders who bring value to Williamson County and beyond. The firm is also known for growing experts whose community impact extends beyond the workplace, ensuring they contribute meaningfully to Williamson’s economic and social landscape.
Lasting Partnerships and Collaboration
LBMC has forged lasting partnerships with key community organizations to address pressing issues in Williamson County, including education, healthcare, and economic development. These partnerships are core to LBMC’s vision of a better future for everyone in Williamson County.
“Nashville and Williamson County are unmatched in their spirit of giving and collaboration,” says Meade. “Being part of this community means investing in its future, and we are inspired daily by those who work tirelessly to uplift others.”
Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future
As LBMC marks its 40th anniversary, the firm remains grounded in the values of integrity, service, and commitment to people. LBMC’s support for Williamson County is not just a chapter in its history but a vision for the future. With plans to expand the LBMC Cares Foundation, strengthen partnerships, and inspire more hands-on service, LBMC is committed to positive change for decades to come.
“We can do better, and we will do better—because our community deserves it,” Meade asserts. This forward-looking approach ensures LBMC’s legacy of service will continue impacting Williamson County and beyond in profound and meaningful ways.
